Aftercare instructions following your endodontic procedure

X-Rays

Once the procedure is complete, additional X-rays may be taken to confirm the quality of the treatment. Follow-up X-rays are also an important part of monitoring your healing progress over time. Dr. Campbell will advise you on when to return for follow-up imaging.

Oral Hygiene

Continue to practice good oral hygiene, including brushing, flossing, and regular checkups/cleanings. Most endodontically treated teeth last as long as other natural teeth. If the procedure is unable to be completed within one visit, medicine may be placed inside the tooth between appointments until treatment has completed.

Pain Management

Discomfort may be alleviated by taking the following over-the-counter medications:

  • Naproxen sodium (Aleve®)
  • Ibuprofen (Advil®)
  • Aspirin
  • Acetaminophen (Tylenol®)

Use only as directed.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have been prescribed narcotics, alcohol intake is not advised.
